Christians in the Crosshairs
Recently I read an article on a popular liberal website. It was mocking Christians for believing in morality, family, financial responsibility, heterosexual marriage, the Constitution, and a bevy of other ridiculous, right-wing, nut-job ideas. This isn’t all that unusual; however, coupled with the fact that the military, DHS, Colorado law enforcement, and many others report Christians are now terrorists who must be watched, it is alarming. Anyone with even a modicum of discernment knows that Christianity is under attack in America.
The world has always hated Christians. Governments have little tolerance for God or His people. This is especially true of corrupt governments. Jesus said, “If the world hates you, just remember that it has hated me first. If you belonged to the world, then the world would love you as its own. But I chose you from this world, and you do not belong to it; that is why the world hates you. (GNB John 15:18,19)
In the Dark Ages, the misguided Catholic Church arrested, tortured, and martyred anyone who wouldn’t follow the dictates of the church. Today the attacks are against those who won’t follow the liberal, Communist agenda, which is pushed by the UN, and most of Washington’s politicians.
Every few days we hear a new report of some official or expert calling Christians terrorists who must be watched. A few days ago Representative Sheila Jackson Lee said investigators need to analyze Christian militants in America because they too might try to “bring down the country.” Last month a professor in Florida told his students to write the name Jesus on a piece of paper and stomp it. One student refused to do it, and they expelled him.
Even the Army is getting in on Christian slamming. The Washington Times reported that Defense Department classifies Catholics and evangelicals as extremists. Lt. Col. Jack Rich recently sent an email to dozens of his subordinates at Fort Campbell Kentucky, warning them to watch out for soldiers with the same dangerous values as the American Family Association and Family Research Council. He listed these as “domestic hate groups” because they oppose homosexuality.
They call Christians who speak out racists, hate mongers, or worse. Homosexuality is dividing America. Most Christians can’t accept it as a normal part of society. To do so would go against the basic tenets of our faith. The government protects homosexuals and is using their protected status as a hammer to break us down.
In some places, it is already illegal to refuse service to a homosexual. A florist in the Washington state is facing a lawsuit initiated by state Attorney General Bob Ferguson for refusing to provide flowers for a same-sex marriage ceremony. It wasn’t that long ago a business could refuse to serve anyone without getting drug into court.
Boy Scouts and Christian youth groups are in danger of losing their nonprofit status in California if they don’t accept homosexual scout leaders or youth leaders. This is just the beginning if we accept homosexual marriage.
This trend isn’t just happening in the United States. British Christians are tired of the negative and disrespectful television programs in their country, making fun of and mock Christians. They say Islam is shown deference over Christianity, and they want it stopped. They’re right. Governments do show Islam an unusual deference over Christianity in most western nations. Everyday hundreds of Muslims in France pray in the street and shut down part of the city while French security guards them. Although, this is illegal, someone in authority told the police to stand down and leave them alone.
All we have to do is listen to the liberal media swoon over the poor, misguided, mistreated, cold blooded killer who helped his older brother attack the Boston Marathon last week. More than once a prominent liberal publicly said they thought it may be, hoped it was, or thought it was a right-wing terrorist Tea Party member. Who, liberals define as Bible thumping, right-wing-nuts. They were visibly distraught when the terrorists turned out to be Muslims. On the other hand, they dropped the word terrorists and brought out the crying towels as soon they discovered Muslims were guilty.
Even Russia is noticing the extremes in the treatment of Christians in America. Joe Miller wrote an article last November highlighting a column in the Russian newspaper Pravda. He reported, “Pravda also criticizes the growing American attack on religious freedom, saying that ‘Christianity in the U.S. is under attack as it was during the early period of the Soviet Union’”.
The Russian article concludes with a frightening warning to Americans:
“Russia lost its’ civil war with the Reds and millions suffered torture and death for almost 75 years under the tyranny of the United Soviet Socialist Republic. Russians survived with a new and stronger faith in God and ever-growing Christian Church. The question is how long will the once “Land of the Free” remain the United Socialist States of America? Their suffering has only begun.”
We’re going to see a big backlash against Christians in the months, and years ahead, especially if the Supreme Court makes homosexual marriage federal law. Accusations of hate crime will increase, and they will force Christians to publicly agreeing with homosexuals or face a lawsuit or jailed. For a nation founded on Christ, we have sure done a one-hundred eighty degree turn, right into the arms of the devil.
