A Poem of Loss in Leadership and Tragedy
When terror strikes on our land
Like the streets of Boston
My heart mourns for the evil that prevails
I miss our former leader Bush
Who knew how to convey a message that terror will not stand.
He brought a gentleness to tragedy not seen today
Holding back tears of emotion for families and friends
Effected by cowardice evil
While holding the strength and stance
That America’s freedom loving people will not sway.
Oh, how I miss the strength of leadership especially now
Comfort from patriotism
A leader who loves his country beyond all measure
Knowing that in all uncertainty
The leader of the free world will not bow.
There’s a great void missing in our nation
Strength of character
Love of country
Leading with grace under pressure
Transparency and Constitutional conviction.
Boston celebrates Patriots Day to honor those in battle and war
Who fought for freedom from tyranny
Now we will remember terror in a marathon
A reflection that freedom is still costly
And liberty for all is to be defended even more.
In times of pain and suffering we look to those who lead
There’s a great loss in our nation
It shows in times of terror
We are broken in pieces
We need a leader who unites, especially in great times of need.
