Rand A RINO? Trust but Verify

trust-but-verifyI woke up this morning to a friend who rushed to call me about the news that Rand Paul is for a path to citizenship for illegals saying, I told you he’s a RINO.  Wait!  Do my ears deceive me?  Rand Paul is a RINO?

No, Rand Paul is not a RINO—far from it!  That alone instilled a mistrust with their statement.

I immediately started searching for this latest news and the first one I found was on Fox: Senator Paul Endorses Path to Citizenship for Illegal Immigrants.

I became concerned so my first stop was on Fox News where I watched this videoNever did I hear Senator Paul use the word citizenship.  However, he does support comprehensive immigration reform, but with certain conditions.  Some speculation is that he wants to make illegals legal, but not give them citizenship.  He’s acknowledging the fact that the United States is not going to deport 11 million illegals.  Fox News reporters in that video insisted that Rand Paul wants a path to citizenship for illegals.

I repeat, He did not say that.

Next stop, Huffington Post where the headline reads: Rand Paul: Immigration Reform Needs Conservatives—better and more accurate.  Reading past the headline, Paul spoke a day after a Republican National Committee report called on the GOP to support comprehensive reform, though without specifying whether it should include a pathway to citizenship….

Liberal Huffington Post is accurate; Conservative Fox News is not!

Whether or not you agree with Senator Paul, and most Conservatives probably don’t since we see this in reality amnesty, my point is that we have to read past the headlines and watch past the videos to get to the truth.

On a few of my previous PolitiChicks articles, I’ve received comments that make it evident they didn’t read past the headlines.

For example, one of my headlines said, Beltway Alert: Islam Is in the House.  The article was accompanied by a picture of Senator Nancy Pelosi with her hand on two Korans swearing in America’s first Muslim, Senator Keith Ellison (D-MN).  Senator Ellison was holding the Korans.  One of the comments was, “When did Nancy Pelosi become a Muslim?”

Enough said!

I understand we are all in overload, but it’s important to not only get to the real truth, but we might actually learn something new and fascinating if we go into the realm searching for accuracy.

Ronald Reagan said, Trust but verify.
