40 WH Aides Owe Back Taxes: Happy Tax Season To You

The people who are hiking up your taxes aren’t even paying theirs.
According to Investor’s Business Daily, a new report from the Internal Revenue Service has just revealed that 40 of Obama’s White House aides owe their employer, the Federal Government, a total of $333,485 in back taxes.
Data show that this is the third consecutive year that “President Fair Share” has been unable to get his staffers to contribute their piece of the pie. In its previous report the annual IRS audit accounting found that 36 of the President’s White House aides owed $833,000 in back taxes. The year before it was 41 Obama staff members owing $830,000.
Hey, at least they are making progress.
But the tax delinquents aren’t just skulking in the White House. The latest IRS report additionally shines light on the 312,000 federal employees and retirees who are also behind in their taxes, an increase of 12% in delinquencies in one year. As of last September, they owed a total of $3.52 billion, up $100 million since the previous audit.
This news hits below the belt just about a month before many Americans (53% of them anyway) will be sending off a chunk of their income to Washington, fulfilling their legal tax duties as a U.S. citizen. An estimated 77% will be feeling an increased pain in the pocketbook this tax season, thanks to a slew of new taxes coming from our fearless leaders in Washington who constantly seek to suck wealth out of the private sector in order to continue their maniacal spending sprees – or as they call it “balancing the budget responsibly.” Because clearly the people who allocate $1.3 billion to study pig poop, $84.5 million to subsidize Amtrak snacks, and $325,000 to fund a robotic squirrel named “RoboSquirrel” have attained a higher level of fiscal responsibility than you or me.
Of course, any argument I could make about Congress having a spending problem, not a revenue problem, would be a moot point because according to Nancy Pelosi, any wealth created by individuals and businesses rightfully belongs to the government anyway, so we from the common ilk should just put up and shut up about our ever-increasing bills from Uncle Sam. In a recent statement she asserted that “tax cuts are spending – tax expenditures, they are called.” So any money you keep after taxes is because she and her fellow Samaritans permitted you to keep only out of the goodness of their hearts, not because you actually deserved it. Have mercy.
Of course, even if you do have some dollars to set aside after sending out your 1040s this year, Obama is continually devising ways to end that, as he recently asked for another $600 billion in new taxes. If he could just get his federal workers to kick in some cash and possibly put the heat on the 47% of Americans who pay a total of zilch to fund the government, maybe he wouldn’t feel the need to arbitrarily squeeze dollars out of the people who follow the rules already.
Winston Churchill once said, “We contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle.” Someone needs to tell Obama to get out of the bucket.
