Hey Boots, Keep Walking!

It’s a beautiful cool but sunny day in Coastal Georgia just hours since we received the news that Barack Hussein Obama would again be our President for the next four years. I’m not going to lie to you, I cried, I lamented over all the ‘what’s going to happen now’ thoughts that came to mind. When my husband called from over-seas and re-assured me everything would be all right, I whined and told him to leave me alone and let me have 24 hours to wallow in my pity. But, to my surprise in just a few hours I had already begun feeling extraordinarily positive about it all.
Say what? You’ve heard the old saying, “no good sailor was ever made on smooth seas.” Scripture started coming to mind: “The Lord will give strength to His people; The Lord will bless His people with peace.” – Psalm 29:11.
So okay, we are not going to have smooth seas for the next four years. That’s fine because this is not our first rodeo, folks! We are accustomed to fighting battles in our everyday lives. We have overcome unbelievable obstacles, faced challenges we didn’t see coming and we’ve beat the odds time and time again! We may need to remind ourselves on occasion how many times we have thought we were facing the most devastating circumstance only to learn that we were much stronger and more resilient than we ever imagined.
If there is one thing I believe about amazing Conservative Americans it’s that we are strong, we are fighters and we never ever give up! I’ve met people who have faced the most incredible obstacles who challenge me to be a better person and a stronger more determined woman warrior! Some of these women are my fellow PolitiChicks–talk about ‘grass roots’! We are made up of Mom’s, home-schoolers, business owners, beauty queens, nurses, military wives, entertainers, and a whole host of other talent! I’m strengthened and encouraged by our Military and Military families who have sacrificed so much over the years but they did it, sometimes in unbearable conditions. So while we suffered a defeat in our Presidential and local elections, I know we have a determination like no other people on earth and we wake up today with more resolve, more energized, and more fit for the battle ahead!
Even if we had won the election, we would still be in this battle to save our Country and the future for our children. The battle would not have ended on Election night because we know our opponents are not going away. They have indeed been behind the scenes for decades influencing our children’s text books, policy, military training, University curriculum, government, and they’ve had a lot of help from the main stream media influencing those who are not engaged in the political process and our communities. That stops now, because we are not going away!
Yesterday at my lowest point I was receiving messages from people hurting and unsure about where do we go from here. I realized there is no time to wallow in my self-pity and accept defeat and a calm and strength came over me such as I’ve never experienced before. I recognized it, and I know it to be divine.
As I forged through the day an old song came to mind, “These boots are made for walking, and that’s just what they’ll do!” I pictured my husband’s military boots and recalled how those boots are a symbol of empowerment to me; there’s just something about boots. And let’s keep in mind that right now we have ‘boots on the ground’ all over the world defending our freedom and our nation, all be it without the right leadership in Washington D.C. So more important than ever, our heroes need us to be standing our ground and staying in the battle on our soil while they defend us on foreign soil. We are warriors in our own right, and we have the most important weapons in our possession: God and truth. There’s nothing the right attitude and a great pair of boots can’t fix! So Warriors, put those boots on–pull yourself up and keep walking!
