The Real “War on Women” is the Assault on My (Fake) Designer Wallet!

We keep hearing about the Republican’s “War on Women”. The narrative or the issue has mainly focused on woman’s reproductive rights. It’s argued that we, as females, have the right to use abortion as birth control and we have the right to acquire FREE birth control so that we can enjoy our sex life. How dare Republicans try to take our pleasure and our right to kill babies away from us! The “War on Women” drum beats and we constantly hear how Conservatives are ready to throw our daughters at hacks doing unsanitary and dangerous abortions in back allies. Democrat propaganda would have women believe an Obama loss is the end of freedom for women altogether. They are practically saying, “Ladies – put your bras back on, make babies and stay in the kitchen! This is your only future if Mitt Romney becomes President!”
My mom had a phrase that always bugged me: “What does that have to do with the price of tea in China”? When she would ask me that question, I would roll my eyes and answer, “Mom…you just don’t understand!” Ah, but she did. I was changing the subject and being evasive when my mom caught me being less than honorable—and this “War on Women” is the Obama Administration’s version of changing the subject and being evasive.
The truth of the matter is that this “War on Women” is as fake as my “designer” wallet they keep assaulting! This “War” was created so that we don’t see what’s directly in front of us. The issue isn’t whether or not women get abortions or birth control paid for by taxpayers; the problem is how the economy has crumbled under Obama’s failed policies.
For those of us that have cars and purchase gasoline, we just can’t ignore how much it costs to fill up our gas tanks. Gas has more than doubled since Obama became President. When George W. Bush left office, gasoline was under $2.00 a gallon. I thought that was expensive but today–right now in the city where I reside–gas costs $4.61 for regular unleaded! Every time I fill up my gas tank my fake designer wallet comes under assault.
At my local grocery store, the price for a loaf of whole grain bread is $5.50. One pound of delicious Farmer John’s Bacon is $8.29, which is cost prohibitive! Cheese, milk, vegetables, cereal, and ordinary grocery item prices have all skyrocketed over the past couple of years. I cannot be the only one who feels assaulted every time I reach into my fake designer wallet to pay for food.
Obama’s war on the coal industry, which produces about half of our nation’s electricity, could have the effect of causing our energy prices to go higher by another 40-60 %! Think about that…if you pay $100.00 for electricity a month, your bill will now be $140 – $160.00 per month. That is an extra $480 – $720 per year! Do you have extra money in your household budget to pay for this in addition to the soaring cost of gasoline and food prices?
But what do the Democrats want you to focus on? Your uterus.
So what about the real “War on Women”—the unemployed or under-employed women? If those women are married and their husband is unemployed, then their battle is on a whole different level altogether. “For Richer or Poorer” has become reality and keeping their faith alive while shoring up their husband’s is not easy. Telling children that vacations are on hold indefinitely, new clothes are not an option, extracurricular activities are out…and keeping with up the Jones? Sorry, kids. If you know a woman in this devastating situation or if you are living this truth, you understand how difficult it is to try to instill lessons of gratitude while doing your doggone best to hide from your family how you quake in fear for the future.
“War on Women”? Why does the Left insist on separating us into categories? Aren’t we in this battle together as Americans, regardless of whether we are men or women, black, white, Asian, Hispanic, gay, straight, or whatever?
I am a woman. I am of more worth than my reproductive organs. I am of more worth than a free cell phone. I am of more worth than empty promises and scare tactics. I am a woman who has been endowed by my Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. Why? Because I am an American Woman.
