Mr. President, Where Are Your Priorities?

For a day and half, I was away from all media. It was delightful to take a moment and step away from reality and clear my head, focus on my family, and enjoy simple pleasures. Those few hours happened to be September 11 through half of September 12. Imagine my shock at finding out how the world changed…overnight…and all because of people that hate the U.S. and everything we stand for.
When I learned about what happened in Libya and Egypt, I had a conspiratorial thought. I wondered if the Obama Administration or supporters had something to do with this? The thought was brief and fleeting and I pushed it down, down, down, back into the pessimistic cellar of my brain. I locked the door and watched the news reports. The radio was on for hours while I drove home from my trip. I listened intently to the inflection of President Obama’s and Hillary Clinton’s voices and what they had to say.
Click. Unlock. The cellar to the conspiracy door again creaked open.
Watching the two of them is one thing but hearing them is quite another.
There was no emotion. They didn’t sound mad. They didn’t sound outraged. They sounded devoid of emotion all together. Both of them were robotic in nature and seemed rather bored by the events.
Shouldn’t they have at least been emotional due to the mere fact that one of their own had been murdered? Our own United States Ambassador was bloodied and broken- murdered! Shouldn’t their voices have shaken slightly when talking about the man who served our country with honor and dignity? This man and the other 3 dignitaries died at the hands of terrorists on sovereign United States soil!
Before heading off to Las Vegas, President Obama took time to point a finger at Mitt Romney for acting like a Commander-in-Chief. Romney didn’t coddle the enemy. Romney didn’t bow to the enemy. Romney didn’t apologize to the enemy. Romney didn’t make excuses to the enemy on why it was acceptable to attack US on 9/11. Not any other time, or occasion, or for any other fabricated reason!
Hillary Clinton wouldn’t stop apologizing.
I would like to know what the U.S. did. Why is she apologizing and for what? And what did Christopher Stevens and the others do to deserve their brutal deaths? Why isn’t Clinton hopping mad about how our American flag is being desecrated across the Middle East? Apologies? No! Never!
I have a friend who posed the question: “What if this was all a set-up…a manufactured event to start a war in the Middle East?” Why? Historically, people aren’t comfortable electing new Presidents during conflict.
I say shame on us if we fall for something so sinister! And shame on us, if we choose to keep this President for a second term- this President who could not show sadness or outright anger about the tragic death of Ambassador Stevens. Shame on us if we accept Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State for a second term – a woman whose speech following this tragedy wasn’t strong enough to scold a preschooler, let alone evil, blood-thirsty terrorists that are declared enemies of America.
No conspiracy you say? Okay. Maybe it’s just incredibly weak leadership that doesn’t put America or Americans first; weak leadership that makes excuses for U.S. haters, and gives a pass to enemies past and future to mock and attack us. It’s weak leadership- period!
For me, there is no comparison between Mitt Romney’s actions, words, tone of voice and that of Obama and his administration: One man makes me feel that our country and our future will be in safe hands; the other makes me fear for our future.
I’m guessing Ambassador Stevens’ family wishes that President Obama had personally attended and taken heed of daily Intelligence briefings, and not merely read a large percentage of them in summary, especially for the week leading up to 9/11.
But then again, Vegas, Letterman, and golf are so enticing…
