Forget Muslim Movies–“Piss Christ” Returns to NY
The latest in religious hypocrisy revolves around the revived so-called art, a photograph of the crucifix submerged in the artist’s urine. “Piss Christ” will be displayed at the Edward Tyler Nahem Gallery in Manhattan on Thursday.
Where is the outcry from President Obama? Certainly, we heard from him and Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, denouncing the recent low budget film against Islam. Instead they should have denounced Islamic politics, and right now Obama should be doing what is right for America and its Christians –speaking out and defending our core foundational principles of Judaism and Christianity against this disgusting and reprehensible display of vulgarity.
We all saw Muslims rioting in the streets in the Mideast and burning our American flag when word of the anti-Islam film got out. Will we see Christians rioting when this deplorable piece of “art” goes on display in Manhattan? Will Christians be burning Mosques? Absolutely not!
Even Pakistan’s foreign minister got in involved and said that America should rethink our commitment to freedom of speech, and that “we really we have to be sensitive to religious sensitivities.”
I would like to tell foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar that America has survived over 275 years as a nation without her guidance.
The average American hears words and accepts them on face value. In other words, when we speak, we mean what we say. The problem is that there is a clandestine restructuring of our society by redefining terms. One example is the word “tolerance.” To the average American on the street, tolerance has always meant, “I don’t agree with you, but we’ll agree to disagree.”
Today, the progressive meaning of tolerance is that there are no absolutes. If our actions and our views do not line up in agreement with another’s opinion/action, it is our views that are deemed offensive to the leftists, making them the victims and us the “bad guy.”
This redefinition of no absolutes and the acceptance of others opinions as equally valid as our own views carries over into religion. It is also interesting to observe that those who argue that they are atheists are expressing their own religious belief system too; and in order to fill the empty space in their heart that God does not exist, they fill it with self.
In America, all religions are equally tolerated, but some religions are more equal than others. The press, and many in the arts, has no problem attacking Christianity and expressing their hatred of Jews while carefully tiptoeing when they discuss Islam. Isn’t it interesting how the press can be so condescending to Christianity and Judaism while becoming almost apologists (defenders) of Islam? It’s hard to believe they do this out of ignorance
The word Islam means submission. When a person submits to something, they are giving up their right of self-determination. The teachings of the Koran are not merely poetic niceties regarding how one should live their lives and attain eternal happiness. It is also a political and financial structure as well as a legal system. You’ve heard it before. It is an ideology.
While the Judeo-Christian Bible centers basically on the Ten Commandments and some complex kosher laws, the Koran is more political in its structure. It is very naive for one to assume that Islam (submission) is compatible with our republic and our freedom.
In December, according to Forbes, The United States voiced its support for the United Nations resolution 16/18 which is an initiative of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation that seeks to limit speech that is viewed as “discriminatory” or which involves the “defamation of religion.”
Of course, this flies in the face of the First Amendment of our Constitution. Once we go down that road, no matter what the reason, this chipping away at our Constitution can only result in the submission to government and loss of freedom.
This U.N. resolution is a disguise to institute Sharia law. Islam wants to conquer the world for Allah, and they will do so by force and death, but before that we will be slowly warmed up to Islam through Chrislam, which is blasphemous and through various articles and community events trying to convince us that they are a peaceful religion. Christianity seeks the world to know Jesus through love and sharing who Jesus is. In Islam, one must submit. In Christianity, one may or may not accept Christ as their Savior.
After the 9/11 attacks, most Americans were ignorant of the Muslim faith. The first exposure we had to the totality of Islam was given to us when President George W. Bush stated that Islam is a “religion of peace.” Now we have a sitting president who proclaims to be a Christian, yet makes it clear if Islam is attacked, he will defend it.
In his book Audacity of Hope Obama writes, “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.” Whether Obama is truly a Muslim or not is not the point here. I will leave it to the reader to judge between what he says and what he does since sometimes actions speak louder than words.) However, it is difficult to believe, in lieu of current Middle East events, that Obama, who has a formidable knowledge of Islam, far more than the average American does, has such a removed attitude of the current unrest in the Middle East.
In the last days, the Bible teaches there will be competing religious systems vying to distract Christians and others from the true doctrine of Christ (1 Cor. 1:8). Several religious structures reinterpret or incorporate the Holy Scriptures to bolster the credibility of their views. Currently, the Iranians are waiting for the white horse of the Apocalypse whose rider is dressed in white, wears a crown and will ride forth on the earth. They believe this rider is the Mahdi who will not return until the world is in an apocalyptic war. This Muslim messiah, if you will, is supposed to lead the fight against, in Islam’s view, the corrupt Western society, and conquer the world for Allah. Other religions too have prophecies of the white horse, but the only true rider of the white horse during apocalyptic times is Christ who comes after the four horses of the Apocalypse.
Christians are not violent, and we will not see any Christians storming the art gallery in Manhattan on Thursday—or at any time ever— in the streets rioting or violently protesting over anything that is offensive to us but we won’t be quiet. While Jesus said to turn the other cheek (Matthew 5:39) and we abide by that, we are not to stand idly by.
That being said, we are calling on you, President Obama, to denounce this deplorable piece of “art” and stand up for America’s Christians and for America’s foundational Judeo-Christian beliefs. Or are you too busy apologizing for America elsewhere and appearing on The Late Show with David Letterman and The View?
