Call to Activism!

I cannot tell you how many times I’ve heard the following:
“I’m not into politics.”
“What can I do about what’s going on with the government?”
“I have too many other things to worry about to waste time on thinking about what the politicians are doing.”
Each and every time I hear any one of (or a variation of) these statements, I want to literally shake some sense into the person saying it…I want to grab them by the shoulders and just shake. With this type of mentality, these people are perpetuating the corruption in our federal, state and local governments, as well as the destruction of the Republic for which we stand, as we know that elected officials gain power through their constituent’s complacency. This is especially frightening with the upcoming November Presidential Election.
Being labeled an “activist”, or worse, an “extremist” by those who utter the aforementioned statements is actually one of the highest forms of compliment that I can receive. While they may mean to belittle me, what they’ve actually done is strengthen me – and my resolve – to continue to educate others on the importance of being ACTIVE in the world of politics. Self-empowerment and knowledge is a socialist’s worse enemy.
Each and every American citizen should also be labeled an “activist”. We ALL should actively seek to keep our elected officials working on behalf of the American citizens – the very people who have given them the gift of service. We ALL should invest the miniscule amount of time it takes to stay informed, to ensure that our elected officials are working for and have our best interests in the forefront of their decision-making…not the special interests, or even their own personal interests. We ALL should actively stay informed as to the goings-on in all level of government. We ALL should actively educate ourselves – and our peers – about not only the policies being made, but especially on the policy-makers themselves.
This is neither about being politically savvy, nor is it about politics in general…
It is about being active in our lives as American citizens.
Being an “activist” is about being a participant. It’s about being not only aware of what’s going on in our country, but also standing up and fighting those who are corrupting and destroying our beloved United States of America.
We, the People, ARE the government! The elected officials are OUR civil servants. They are in their positions to serve the American people using the Holy Bible (to which they laid their hand upon when being sworn into office), and the United States Constitution as their guide. The most definitely must serve to protect and defend both of these, while being given the honor of their position by the American people.
Now, more than any other time in our history, we all must be an “Activist”. Never before have we been faced with elected persons who blatantly snub their noses at the very foundation for which this country – our country – was founded.
As one, I am alone…together, we are an army.
