About That 47%: END THE ‘DEPENDS’!

Mitt Romney hit on a deep, deep truth about what is wrong with the Obama Administration. We really can’t afford to have leaders any more who think it’s hunky dory to blow money on whatever they want, whenever they want it . . . and have 47% of American households not paying for what all of us, as citizens and taxpayers, are supposed to enjoy in the American way of life.

From TARP to the Several Stupid Stimuli to G.E. to Solyndra to Obamacare to just about every other corrupt Presidential initiative or policy, it’s a money rampage on the Planet of Me. There’s not a glimmer of a thought about the extra burdens being so unfairly dumped on the shoulders of the honest, hard-working American taxpayer who has to foot the bill.

So why wouldn’t the Obamoids – the president’s “Mini Me’s” around the country – feel like doing the same, and stiffing the restaurant check for someone else to pay? Because the President and his merry band have modeled such fiscal irresponsibility, no wonder their supporters think nothing of sticking it to those of us who still believe, as Romney does, that the best way to live is to pay your own way and not cheat or trick somebody else into paying it for you.

As soon as Romney hits the Oval Office, he has promised to start chipping away at this malignant governmental overspending, waste, fraud and abuse . . . and not a minute too soon.

All this dependency that the Obama Administration has fostered is bad. Real bad.

There’s even a book with a warning about this scary entitlement fever that has spilled down to far, far too many Americans from the White House:  “But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” (1 Timothy 5:8)

There is a solution, of course: elect Mitt Romney. And here’s how to do it. A friend thought up this bumper sticker:  END THE ‘DEPENDS’!

Catchy, isn’t it? We need one on every car.

Of course by “Depends,” my friend didn’t mean the adult diapers; she meant ending the mountain range of phony entitlement and dependency money that we’re bleeding ourselves dry by paying out, each and every year, to fraudsters, crooks and opportunists who have bloated our federal entitlements and our federal deficit beyond belief.  She meant we’ve got to stop paying people who should be – and who could be – making their own way in life, instead of depending on us taxpayers to give them a free ride. Far too many of them lie, cheat and steal to get their “benefits,” and it’s a sad commentary on the ethical status of too many of our fellow Americans today.

Of course, when we criticize people receiving government benefits checks, that doesn’t include the bona fides – the elderly, the poor, the truly disabled and their families . . . the honest-to-goodness needy, and those who paid in to Social Security over the years, for example, and deserve to dip it out now. No way, no how, is anybody carping about our tax dollars going to support the “depends” that really deserve and need our support.

Seems, though, that everybody except for the Obama Administration wants to cut off the bad “depends” who are draining us dry. From the billions lost in waste, fraud and abuse in the loosey-goosey Medicare and Medicaid systems to the massive identity theft going on for Social Security benefits (especially to illegal immigrants and those who don’t even live in this country and never paid a dime to support it) to countless everyday lies by everyday Americans to “get some” in those government assistance offices . . . we’re in a world of hurt.

But Father, forgive them; they’re only following their leader.

What does the Obama system do, in the face of this everyday corruption? Look the other way, and smile. This is what crime syndicates do, remember? Misery loves company, and so does corruption. Remember where the Obama ideas came from: Chicago’s Daley Machine. Ring a bill? Big-time crooks know that you spread the “vigorish” out to all the peons and make them think it’s from your “stash.” That’s how you solidify your base – groom them – deceive them – so that they’ll cover for you, and you can go on with your corruption on a much more grandiose scale.

That’s why unless Romney wins, we’ll have the poster child of corruption – Obamacare – the monstrous evil that will be created by 2,700 pages of gibberish that nobody read. A And they’re doing this despite the well-known fact that private insurers have had fraud problems that are 10 or more times less than government programs. So Obamacare would do the opposite of what it’s billed to do – give us less quality for more expense.

You think it hurts now to have an estimated $100 billion in fraud in Medicare and Medicaid, the two biggest peaks in our mountain range of federal debt? Just imagine 10 times that amount, if Obamacare is allowed to stand. A trillion in fraud, every year. Good God! Good luck reducing the debt for our children and grandchildren then.

Important: pay attention to the Obama regime’s hair-curling increases in demand for food stamps, unemployment compensation, Medicare and Medicaid services, free and subsidized school breakfasts and lunches, free and subsidized child care whether you’re working or not, free and subsidized housing, and increases in every other kind of taxpayer-supplied perk and freebie you can name.

That entitlement attitude has weakened the country much more than 9/11 . . . much more than lousy public schools or our health-care mess.

This psychotic gulf between the “I want’s” that this Administration foments, and the “I can affords” that we taxpayers must insist upon, has to be bridged immediately. And it will be, by a President Romney who “gets it” about the atrocity of a soft, grabby, deceptive, whining, entitled American public, instead of the strong, self-reliant, self-sacrificing, hard-working patriots we should be, thanks to all our blessings.

Last year, after a full day’s work, a friend of mine bundled up her car with 10 or 12 baskets of food to bring to low-income families designated by a local charity as being among the most needy in the city. As she drove from nicely appointed home to appointed home, she saw cars in the driveways that were more costly than hers.  Women with $50 acrylic nails greeted her at the door (probably paid for using their children’s food stamps), and most had huge flat-screens blaring in the background.  My friend said her goodness gland got squeezed dry and needless to say, she will not be delivering turkey dinners with all the fixings this November.

Another buddy is a caring school principal who was personally moved by a low-income pupil who didn’t know what a mattress was. Apparently, the child had been sleeping on a pile of clothes on the floor. This principal rounded up a bedframe, mattress, box springs, kid-pleasing linens, the whole nine yards, and had them delivered at Christmastime. After the holidays, she asked the girl how she liked her new bed. “Oh,” the girl replied, “I don’t have it any more. It got lost.”

Got . . . lost. It got . . . LOST?!?!?!?!?!

Still another friend visited her elderly mother daily at a local nursing home. She got invited into the “circle of trust” among the aides and food service people there. None of them made much money, but they shared with her some of the ways that they “scammed the system” for some extra revenue in order to look on paper as if they were poor. They were proud to tell about it. They confided in her that, after a big thunderstorm had knocked out power across the city for a day or so, they had all scurried to the welfare office and filed paperwork for a thousand dollars in groceries to replace all the food and meats that they had lost in their freezers after the storm although, they chortled, none of them HAD freezers. Hardy har har! NOT!

Well, we’re going to have the last laugh. We’re going to freeze out that Obama-style corruption and parasitic dependency. We’re going to put Romney in the White House.

We’re going to . . .END THE ‘DEPENDS’!
