CPAC 2014: According to Rick Santorum There Should be No Middle Class!

santorum_CPACSpeaking at CPAC, former presidential candidate Rick Santorum had some advice for Republicans: Stop using the term “middle class”, which according to Santorum, is leftist progressive language that Republicans have adopted. “There is no middle class. We should be using the term “working class”. We believe in equality of opportunity. We believe work is a good thing.They [the left] are about dividing…let them divide, let us unify. Celebrate that all work is good work.”

He then commented on the last election, “I actually put my neck out there, and a lot of other body parts [laughter]. I ran because I wanted us to win the White House, to create a better America, and to keep us from the policies of this administration. Elaborating further on why Republicans lost the election, he said , “People stayed at home and didn’t vote because they thought we didn’t care about them. People were nervous, anxious, and, yes, fearful. Obama got votes from the most vulnerable out of fear. We had no message for them. We know we are the party that have policies that will work best– that believe in restoring what is broken. The American family should be at the center of our economy. When the home breaks down, the economy breaks down. We must reclaim marriage as good for our society. We need people who don’t
