Father Jonathan Morris got my attention today when he stated on the news that Air Force officials had objected to a video with the word “God” in it. Can you recall another time in our nation’s history when our leaders, especially in Washington DC have exhibited such intolerance at the mention of God? Yet Americans in Coffee County Tennessee fear being prosecuted for speaking against Islam.
Bill Killian, a U.S. attorney, earlier this week addressed a crowd at the Coffee County Civic Center and read statutes verbatim from PowerPoint slides that defined hate crimes, civil rights violations, and federally prescribed violations and penalties. It is clear why Tennesseans and Americans would feel their freedom of speech is threatened when he released this statement before the event: “This is an educational effort with civil rights laws as they play into freedom of religion and exercising freedom of religion. This is also to inform the public what federal laws are in effect and what the consequences are.” Indeed very interesting considering the DOJ and FBI have not scheduled meetings addressing the concerns of any other group but Muslims. Anyone surprised? Twelve such outreach sessions are planned for Tennessee alone.
It seems Christians are expected to accept that God and prayer are banned from high school and college sporting events and graduations; the Christmas tree is suppose to be a “holiday tree”; the ten commandments are banned from many public buildings; Easter break is now “spring” break, and the list goes on. Meanwhile Muslim’s are granted special recognition not granted to any other religious organization. Following the Benghazi attack, Obama went to the UN and announced, “The future does not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam”, adding, “Intolerance is a form of violence.” We have the President of the United States stating, “Intolerance is a form of violence”–what exactly is his definition of ‘intolerance?’ What about the ‘intolerance’ of God, which Christians are experiencing today? Are you angry yet that God and our freedom are under attack, not from outside forces but from the inside? Obama’s financial and verbal aid to terrorist Islamic regimes such as the Muslim Brotherhood and anti-God organizations should turn that “thrill up your leg” into a chill down your spine.
Not only is God being rejected, but we also heard testimony last week from American citizens who have been harassed by IRS employees and denied their rights under the laws of the United States simply because of their conservative and/or Christian beliefs. Groups with the word “progressive” in their title were granted tax-exempt status, while those from Tea Party, Conservative, or Christian groups were ignored, required to complete pages of intrusive questions, and harassed by IRS employees. Again, it was simply because of their beliefs. Are we to believe low-level IRS employees formulated a plan to target conservative groups that would risk their livelihoods? Hardly. Even a Democrat Senator was appalled that a pro-life group was told they were forbidden to protest outside an abortion clinic if they wanted tax-exempt status.
Since Obama has taken office, secrecy, lies, and scandals continue to mount. Murdered Border Control Agent Brian Terry’s family have yet to receive justice. Fast and Furious is all but forgotten by most and seldom mentioned. Nadal Hassan, the Islamic terrorist who murdered 13 people at Ft. Hood Army base, has been awaiting trial making a mockery of our justice system since 2009 while receiving a quarter million dollars in pay from United States taxpayers. Questions remain about our Hero SEALS killed on Extortion 17 and the families are demanding a Congressional investigation, rightfully so. We still do not know the truth about Benghazi despite Obama and Hillary Clinton’s promise to the families. The IRS abuse of power toward Christians and conservatives has just been brought to light, and we just learned the National Security Administration has seized phone records of ordinary American citizens.
Will we allow this President and his Administration to cast fear into our hearts and lives?
Some Americans fear standing up to this Administration. The IRS is confident and aggressive about intruding into the lives of law-abiding citizens and there seems to be no accountability to those who do wrong. It appears that actions against the American people are rewarded with promotions and appointments e.g. Susan Rice and Samantha Power. Because of these things and more, it is indeed understandable why Americans would fear the Government. What are freedom-loving Americans to do?
We must be fearless.
Now more than ever in our nations history we have to speak out against the enemies of liberty, enemies of God. It is evident they are often one and the same. Remember the Democrat party who wanted to remove God from their platform? We must educate those who have long had their heads buried in the sand. We must ignite the desire to preserve our freedom in the hearts of the complacent. Speak to your Representatives, write letters, make phone calls, talk to your family and neighbors, vote for candidates upholding conservative values, and above all pray. Whatever you do, refuse to be silent. Be fearless.
Remember these words taken from Psalm 27:
“Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war rise up against me, yet I will be confident. One thing I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple. For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will set me high on a rock. Now my head is lifted up above my enemies all around me, and I will offer in his tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make melody to the Lord. Teach me your way, O Lord, and lead me on a level path because of my enemies. Do not give me up to the will of my adversaries, for false witnesses have risen against me, and they are breathing out violence. I believe that I shall see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”
God, help me to be fearless.
