The “Gun Control” Bill That Won’t Die

Gun Control Hall of FameYou would think that once the Senate votes against a bill, it would disappear where all unpopular bills go to die. Not so with gun control legislation. They’re getting ready to bring it back. On April 17 Obama and his liberal cohorts got a resounding no from the American people, when the Senate listened to their constitutes, and voted no to expanded background checks. The gun control advocates were six votes short of the 60 needed to pass the legislation.

This was a serious defeat for President Obama. His top three legislative issues for this year are gun control, immigration reform and higher taxes. The first thing President Obama did after the vote was to surround himself with gun control advocates in the Rose Garden, and rant about the lying Republican Party and pro-gun lobbies. He was livid when he said,

“To change Washington, you, the American people will have to sustain some passion about this, and when necessary, you have to send the right people to Washington, and that requires strength and persistence, and that’s one thing these families should have inspired in all of us.”

Obama and George Soros can’t take the next step in their goal to bring America to her knees until they get the guns out of the hands of the American people. They’re moving hell and earth to make it happen as soon as possible. Senator Joe Manchin said in an interview On Fox News Sunday, he was re-introducing a measure that would require criminal and mental health background checks for gun buyers purchasing guns at gun shows and online.

He thinks if people actually read the bill, they will fall all over themselves to see it pass and become law. He fails to realize fake poll numbers and outdated, incorrect data do not impress Americans who are determined to see the Second Amendment stay intact.

At a Thursday press conference, Senator Chuck Schumer said the Senate will try again to pass recently defeated gun control legislation, and will be aided by increasing activism from previously neutral voters.

“I think we will bring the bill back before the end of the year,” Schumer told reporters.  “… Lots of Senators who thought it was safe to vote against it [April 17] because of the intensity [of gun-rights supporters] are not so sure any more.”

Schumer told reporters the intensity of public support for gun control is increasing.

“I think we’re at a turning point,” he said.  “I think the numbers are getting a little more intense…I heard from people who said ‘Keep at it,’ and I never heard from those folks before.”

Meanwhile, RINO John McCain, the anti-American traitor, is working with Obama in this betrayal of America, adding to what Senator Schumer said Thursday.

“The bill is just ‘common sense’”, said McCain. “But I do agree with Chuck that I think the issue is going to come back.”

Oddly enough, McCain believes Senators are not doing enough to keep guns away from “crazy people.”

“Second-amendment defenders are very active” McCain told Christian Science Monitor, adding that “the toughest part of the issue [is] where do individual rights end, and the obligation to protect the community begins.”

Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., said the bill is not dead, though it might have to be altered. “Either through the fury of constituents who were wronged yesterday or by revisions to the bill, we will try to bring this back up.”

President Obama, Harry Reid, and all the other Washington cronies who want to take away our Second Amendment rights are blaming the National Rifle Association for their loss. They say the NRA has “paid off” the Senators who voted against this ridiculous repressive legislation. Surely it must be the NRA’s fault. After all, anyone with any sense would like to see “common sense” gun control legislation in America. What they fail to realize, or chose not to see, is our founding fathers wrote “common sense” gun control legislation over 200 years ago.

They refuse to admit that maybe tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, or even millions of gun owning Americans have contacted their Washington representatives and voiced their opinions as well. No, it must be the evil NRA. It’s easier to believe that this “evil gun lobby” would speak out than it would be to accept that 90% of Americans don’t want to lose their guns.
